Selman Memorial Pavilion Rendezvous

Join experienced Guild members and aspiring timber framers in pastoral northeastern Indiana for the raising of a large public park structure.

The Selman Memorial Pavilion is a major effort of the Angola Department of Parks and Recreation in memory of the late Mayor Edwin W. “Bill” Selman Jr. The pavilion is a very large, though not overly complex, timber frame structure. CATEGORIES OF PARTICIPATION
We are looking for a total of 50 people on this large public job, in these three categories:

Leadership Role. Submit a résumé or recommendation to Projects@tfguild.org to be considered for a leadership role. Roster will be selected by the middle of February 2005. Event leaders are independent contractors, not employees of the Guild. Modest compensation is available.

Professional Participant. You are a practicing timber framer of sufficient skill and motivation to accomplish quality work with a minimum of supervision. This project is designed to add skills in production timber framing skills, rigging and raising, to your portfolio, to make a you a better timber framer, and therefore more valuable to your employer. There is no fee, but you must submit a résumé or recommendation to Projects@tfguild.org in order to be considered for this project.

Rookies: Rookies will be provided with supervision, instruction, and encouragement. Rookie tuition is $200/week or $350 to attend both weeks. You will eat the same hearty food, get access to the same hot showers, and be camping in the same pastoral setting as the Pros. It’s a great opportunity to develop your timberframing skills and learn from some of the most skilled and experienced practitioners in the world.

Student and Senior: If you are over 65, and/or a full-time college student, your tuition is on us, no matter what your experience level. You must register in order to participate and you will need to demonstrate your student status. You will find plenty of challenges during the project.

All participants will receive meals Monday through Saturday, hot showers and camping on site. Participants must sign and return the liability and photo waivers, and complete the skill and tools inventory, contained in the Confirmation Packet.

Cancellation Policy:
100% tuition refund before May 2, 2005;
50% refund before May 30;
0% thereafter.
