A new workshop intended specifically for timber framers to use structural insulated panels efficiently and economically. The resulting course, entitled "Designing for Panels," premiered June 17-18 at TFG headquarters in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. Check back for future course dates.

Intended for architects, designers, and builders, the course will explore timber frame and SIP design, layout, tips and techniques, and there will be a hands-on demonstration.

Instructors Chuck Dougherty (of Synergy Design Group, Vancouver, Washington) and Abby Waldron (of Day Pond Woodworking, Bradford, New Hampshire) have been designing and building timber frame and SIP houses since the early 1980s. Cost is $175 for Guild members, $200 for non-members, and includes lunch Saturday and Sunday. Registrants will receive maps, guides to local accommodations, and more by mail.
